This artcourt was developed through a collaborative process with Alekarenge School students, teachers and Arlpwe Art Centre. Artcourts worked closely with the school and art centre to develop the court design and translate the artwork onto the playing surface.

Drawing on the stories and visual language of Ali Curung, the design incorporates the dingo, night sky and the beloved Ali Roos, creating a court connected to the people and place around it.

The project provided an opportunity for students to contribute to the creative process, resulting in a court that is not only a place to play, but a court that truly belongs to school and it’s students.

The incorporation of artist’s works Daylene Miller Kamara and Quincey Stevens Jabaljari of Arlpwe Art Centre brings their incredible artistic practice to the heart of the court, creating a space that celebrates local stories while providing a vibrant new gathering and recreation space for the Ali Curung community.
